No one can keep an eye on multiple computers without some kind of specialized application. Running from one computer to another, just to see if they are working properly, is a complete waste of time. Moses can perform periodic checks automatically, on one or more computers, over a network. It lets you decide what type of check to perform, when and how to react in certain conditions. You can define various check types, from simple pings to process or service checks.

The software is free to try, with some limitations. It can be installed fast, without making any complex configurations. You can use Moses on Windows XP or any later version, including various Server editions. It does not ask for too many resources, but you need to have .NET Framework 4.0 or higher on your computer.

Monitoring services are displayed in a list, on the main user interface, along with a series of details, like host, check type, interval, alert method, and others. You can select a service and click the available options to enable or disable them, start monitoring, edit or delete existing services or create new ones. New monitoring services are defined on a separate window, on which you must specify a remote computer's name and IP address, set up a checking interval, in seconds, minutes, hours or days and choose a check type.

Different options are made available, depending on the selected check type. For example, if you wish to ping a computer, you only need to specify how many requests to send or the number of requests which have to respond. You can also set Moses to look for certain files in a folder of your choice, check a remote computer's processes and more.

Each check type comes with a set of actions and conditions, which you may combine if you wish to receive alerts. In case of a successful check, errors or changes, the software can send emails automatically, post the information on a website or save it in a file. It is also possible to schedule individual checks to run automatically, on certain days, at specific hours. You can define a precise timetable, clicking a series of check boxes or by using predefined selections, for night, day, weekends or work days and so on.

Pros

The software can monitor other computers over a network. It provides alerts via email or other means if something changes on a monitored machine. You can set up all sorts of check types and schedule them.

Cons

Moses will check and display only x86 processes on x64 operating systems. With Moses, you will always know what is happening on remote computers, especially when a change or error occurs.
